Coffee makers require minimal cleanup, but the task can become quite a hassle with some models. Aside from the pot, which requires daily maintenance, some machines need to be cleaned internally on occasion where coffee grounds or moisture accumulate. Several models have a self-clean feature included for this purpose.
Opinions show that price is related to easy cleanup: the more expensive products are harder to clean than the cheaper products. Indeed, most of the top rated products in this category cost well below $100.

How to best clean a single serve coffee maker

First, remove any remaining water from the reservoir. Then you should take out what parts you can and clean it in the sink with warm, soapy water. Dishwasher-safe parts are available on several coffee machine manufacturers. Make sure to unscrew and clean any espresso or milk steamer attachments that came with your coffee maker.

After that, dunk a small cleaning brush in vinegar. Clean the area around the machine's base, including the area where the cup pods go and the reservoir is located. Grounds become jammed up in the mesh of reusable filters rather frequently. Even though these filters are often dishwasher-safe, consider soaking them in a cup of vinegar and brushing any granules from the mesh with a little brush.

The interior of the coffee maker is the following. Reassemble all the parts and components before adding 4 cups of white vinegar and 2 cups of water to the dry reservoir.

Run the machine repeatedly without a filter. After running a few cups of vinegar, wait a few hours before running the remaining cycles to ensure that the entire solution has been processed. Refill the reservoir with ordinary water after cleaning it out.

To make sure the reservoir is clear and that no vinegar residue is present, run the machine with only plain water.

How to best clean a drip coffee maker

Empty the carafe first, then thoroughly rinse it. Make sure to remove any remaining grounds from the filter. Clean the reusable filter, basket holder, and carafe. You don't have to wash it with soap and water; you only want to get rid of all the grinds.

Half of your carafe should be filled with pure white distilled vinegar, and the remaining half should be water. For instance, if you have a regular 12-cup coffee machine, fill it with vinegar up to the 6-cup mark and then with cold water to the 12-cup mark.

Start brewing after adding the vinegar and water mixture to the water reservoir. Your coffee maker should be turned off halfway through and let to sit for about 40-50 minutes. After that you should complete the brewing cycle.

Run through the coffee maker clean water at least three times, or until the water is clear and the vinegar smell has vanished.

Clean the outside of the coffee maker with a damp microfiber towel and a dab of soap. Use a little bit of white vinegar on a towel to wipe away any hard water stains you may have outside. In hot, soapy water, clean the carafe and filter basket, then let them air dry.
