There are vacuums on the market that retail for around $600. And if you're shopping for one, this number may seem daunting: do you really need to shell out the big bucks for a vacuum? How can you know how much you need to spend?
To find out the answer, Buzzrake collected and analyzed user opinions from all around the web about vacuum cleaners. We looked and what people had to say about each machine and scored them accordingly. We focused on vacuums priced online at $80 or below, and the results are pretty good.
The vacuums in this price range are mostly upright models. The good news for those with back problems or multiple floors to vacuum, is that these models weight less on average (~8lb. for <$80 models, vs. ~15lb. for >$80 models). These models are typically a little narrower as well, which is great for small apartments or minimal storage areas. The brands with the most models that cost less than $80 are Dirt Devil and Eureka.
Users do report that inexpensive models are slightly noisier than average and not as user-friendly. Otherwise, these models score around the average; their performance, value for the money, quality are about the same as most. They don't take a hit due to the lower price. The Top 5 models below have impressive overall scores as well, meaning users find them to be above average in many ways.
To conclude, you really don't need to refinance your house to get a good vacuum cleaner. You can stay at the lower end of the price range and still get a winner.
